The El Sobrante Chamber of Commerce welcomes the community to “take a stroll on the wild side” at the “29th Annual El Sobrante Stroll” Sunday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The one-half mile long festival will close down traffic on San Pablo Dam Road from El Portal Drive to Appian Way in both directions from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and will feature a parade, food, live music at six sites, BMX Bike Show, Classic and Custom Car Show and a variety of vendors.
A parade will usher in the Stroll’s start at 11 a.m., commencing at El Portal & San Pablo Dam Road and continuing along to Appian Way. Led by the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Honor Guard, highlights will include local dignitaries, school floats, marching bands, classic cars and horses. This year’s Grand Marshal will be the West Contra Costa Fire Safe Council.
During the stroll, 13 restaurants dotting San Pablo Dam Road will be open—many with event-day specials—in addition to 20 food/beverage booths along the way. As for music, the Raley’s Main Stage will tout Got the Soul (GTS Band), which is the day’s headliner band, and five additional bands will be entertaining strollers at various sites.
The Pedaler Bike Shop will showcase a BMX Bike Show with crowd-pleasing tricks and jumps that day, while the Stroll’s Classic and Custom Car Show will feature “some of the greatest Classic and Custom rides in the Bay Area,” according to organizers. Awards will be presented in several categories.
Also on hand that day will be nearly 100 vendors—among them, crafters and local organizations—selling their work or providing information. Numerous booths will have games and other activities for kids to enjoy.
