Colin Batchelder, 46, of Pinole, was killed after apparently striking a curb and losing control of his motorcycle on San Pablo Avenue in Pinole Saturday night, police said.

Pinole police responded to the scene near the intersection of Oakridge Road and found Batchelder unconscious, having been ejected from his motorcycle. Despite attempts by first responders to revive the motorcycle rider, Batchelder died at the scene.

A preliminary investigation that included witness statements revealed that Batchelder was traveling eastbound in the second lane of San Pablo Avenue when he hit a curb west of Oakridge Road, lost control and was ejected from the bike.

“The rider and motorcycle slid through the intersection and collided with utility boxes south of the sidewalk,” police said.

The motorcycle continued sliding, eventually hit and came to rest against the St. Joseph Parish Center building.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the motorcycle rider,” Pinole police said.

It is unknown at this time if speed, alcohol, or drugs were involved.

Anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact Officer Eubanks at 510-724-1111.
