The San Pablo Senior Center will soon be equipped with a new, $45,000 audio-visual system.

On Monday, the City Council voted to accept a donation of $45,000 from the San Pablo Senior Advisory Board to procure and install the system at the senior center at 1943 Church Lane.

Programs serving seniors at the center require audio-visual equipment. But currently, “the screen used to show weekly movies is borrowed and the speaker system for dances, bingo games and other special events is old, deteriorating and is very complicated to set up taking multiple people with specific skills,” according to city officials.

In February, the Senior Advisory Board requested that city staff receive a quote for an audio visual package that “includes a screen, built in speakers, wall mounted controls and options for playing movies and music that work with modern technology.”

The system will also have Bluetooth technology to connect to music and microphone technology, with two wireless microphones that can be used at the same time, the city said.
