Pinole recently issued a building permit for the construction of 179 affordable housing units for seniors on three parcels totaling about 2 acres at 600 Roble Ave., 1109 San Pablo Ave. and 1230 San Pablo Ave.

The new apartment complex project is called Vista Woods Apartments and will consist of 16 studio apartments, 127 one-bedroom apartments, 34 two-bedroom apartments and two manager apartments, the city said. Construction is expected to start this month and continue for two years.

“The units will be restricted for occupancy by Very Low-Income Households, Low-Income Households, and Moderate-Income Households,” according to the city. “The rent restriction applicable to the project will last for 55 years.”

Leasing is expected to begin in the last few months of construction.

“The project is being funded from a variety of sources, including California Housing Finance Agency, the Low-income Housing Tax Credit program, Investment Tax Credits and Merchants Capital,” the citys said.
