An Indian restaurant in San Pablo is celebrating its fourth year in business today with a special toast.

At its meeting Tuesday, the San Pablo Planning Commission gave Samraj Sweets N Chat Hut, located in Princeton Plaza on San Pablo Dam Road, the green light to serve beer and wine along with its food.

The Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit for the restaurant operated by Balbir Sambhi, his wife and mother-in-law.

The restaurant’s business is largely takeout, particularly amid the pandemic, and can currently seat eight people in its 24-seat dining space per the public health order. Sambhi told the commission he’s looking into the possibility of offering the ability to offer alcohol for takeout along with food, through third party delivery services like Uber Eats, GrubHub and DoorDash.

Sambhi said customer requests fueled the pursuit of the ability to serve beer and wine.
