The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a solo vehicle crash on Highway 4 in Martinez on Saturday as Alexandria Alvarez, 26, of Richmond.
Officers responded just after 3 p.m. to the crash that occurred eastbound at the McEwan Road on-ramp, the CHP said. Alvarez was driving alone in a 2014 Nissan Maxima when the vehicle left the roadway on the south side of eastbound HWY-4 and traveled down the embankment. She was ejected from the Nissan and pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said, adding it appeared she “was not properly restrained” at the time of the crash.
The CHP reported Saturday that it didn’t know whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
