A 26-year-old Richmond woman was killed in a solo vehicle crash on Highway 4 near Martinez Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded just after 3 p.m. to the crash that occurred eastbound at the McEwan Road on-ramp, the CHP said.
Officers learned the woman was driving alone in a 2014 Nissan Maxima when the vehicle left the roadway on the south side of eastbound HWY-4 and traveled down the embankment.
“It appeared that the solo female driver was not properly restrained and was subsequently ejected from the Nissan,” the CHP said.
She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
It’s not known at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision, the CHP said.
The woman’s identity wasn’t immediately released.
