A new Ace Hardware store will open in Pinole on Aug. 8, with a grand opening slated for Sept. 13-15.
The store will open in the former Orchard Supply Hardware location at 1440 Fitzgerald Drive, the company announced. A grand opening is slated for September 13-15.
About 50 area residents will be employed by the store, some of whom had worked at Orchard Supply Hardware. All Orchard Supply stores were closed following an announcement by Lowe’s last year.

The 30,707 square-foot store is anticipated to eventually employ approximately 50 people from the area. General Manager Eric Evensen said Pinole residents can expect to benefit from Ace Hardware’s “reliable service, helpful advice, and products” that “help customers get their projects done right.”
The store will sell traditional hardware products such as fasteners, tools, plumbing and electrical supplies. It will feature a Garden Center, Backyard BBQ department, Outdoor Power Equipment, Tool Shop, Paint Studio, Kitchen Essentials, and a Hallmark Gold Crown department with giftwrap, greeting cards, keepsake ornaments and home decor items.
“We are thrilled that Pinole consumers will once again have a neighborhood hardware store, full of friendly and familiar faces, and an exciting blend of products,” he said.
