Congressman Mark DeSaulnier announced he is hosting the 2021 Congressional Art Competition and Exhibition. The contest is open to high school students from the Eleventh Congressional District, including Contra Costa County.

“Each year, I am inspired by the artistic talent of the high schoolers throughout our community,” said Congressman DeSaulnier. “I am excited to once again host this competition and share the creativity of our District’s young people in Washington and with the rest of the country.”

The winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol building along with the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country. In addition, the winner and one family member will be flown to Washington D.C. to attend an official event organized annually by the art competition in June.

Students can participate by submitting an original piece of artwork to Congressman DeSaulnier’s office by April 26 at 2 p.m. PST. Artwork entered may be up to 26 x 26 inches, 4 inches in depth, and not weigh more than 15 pounds.

Submissions can range from but are not limited to paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art and photography.
