The Pinole Valley High parade and rally to celebrate both the school’s and the school district’s first state champion football team is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. at Pinole Valley Park on Saturday, Feb. 4.
The parade will follow Pinole Valley Road northbound and conclude in the main drop-off/pick-up area of Pinole Valley High School. A rally on the PVHS football field will follow the parade.
Traffic will be diverted off the parade route during the parade, according to the Pinole Police Department. Pinole Valley Road will be closed to all traffic between Ramona Street and Savage Avenue. Pinole Valley Road will reopen around noon.
The parade and rally was initially scheduled for Jan. 28, but needed to be postponed because eight of the team’s players were set to play in an all-star game that same day.
The Spartans football team captured its first ever state title last fall, defeating Mendota High 34-21 in the Division 7-AA California State Championship. The Spartans earned their bid to play in the state championship after defeating Justin-Siena (Napa) 7-0 on Nov. 25 , 2022, capturing its first North Coast Section title in 43 years.
