The San Pablo Baseball Association will usher in its 70th year serving youth in West Contra Costa County on Opening Day at Davis Park this Saturday.

The event starts at 10 a.m. for the first pitch ceremony. Former Oakland A’s great Mike Norris will throw out the first pitch on what will be his birthday.

Norris is helping to run the league and is enlisting some of his former professional baseball player colleagues to support the youth. The league features teams from six different age groups, including Midget (ages 3-4); Instructional (5-6); Pinto (7-8); Mustang (9-10); Bronco (11-12) and Pony (12-14).

“We still have some spots open for some children,” said Andre Williams Sr., president of the association.

The fee to play in the league is $175. For more information, contact San Pablo Baseball Association President Andre L. Williams Sr. at (510)978-6876.
