Richmond’s Marina Bay Tennis Courts will soon be resurfaced. The Richmond City Council voted Tuesday to approve a contract that will encompass the revamping of the city’s Marina Bay Tennis Courts located on Marina Bay Parkway in the proximity of the Regatta Boulevard intersection.
The City of Richmond’s Department of Public Works, Parks and Landscaping Division sought the approval of the contract with First Serve Productions, Inc. of Danville to resurface two tennis courts located across the street from Marina Bay Park. The company submitted the lowest bid out of two proposals received.
The not-to-exceed contract amount for the project—$38,888—was previously approved in the Fiscal Year 2019-20 Marina Bay Landscaping and Lighting District budget.
In addition to the court resurfacing, key highlights of the project will include the installation of new tennis net posts and nets and the application of new court color and lines in accordance with the United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) 10 and Under requirements.
According to the City of Richmond’s Jose Moreno, signage will be posted to the tennis courts to alert the community as to when there will be a closure due to the project.
Following the City Council’s approval, the contract is effective Feb. 19 and ends June 30, 2020. City of Richmond Parks & Landscaping Superintendent Greg Hardesty is the project manager.
