Quality furniture that is unique isn’t the only reason people from out of town visit this store on 23rd Street in Richmond. The family that runs El Sol Furniture at 1169 23rd St., near the corner of Costa Avenue, say its focus on customer service and affordable prices are a main draw. In that regard, friendly staff and seamless deliveries are among the store’s focuses, said Manual Martinez.
Martinez and brother Juan Carlos have been operating the store on 23rd Street for three years. In short time, the business has developed a reputation beyond Richmond and San Pablo, drawing customers from throughout the Bay Area.
El Sol Furniture scores points for both exterior and interior design. Vibrant paintings adorn warmly colored walls, offering a stylish home feel. The purple-painted storefront featuring murals of large, decorative suns invite customers in.
Manuel and Juan Carlos are also known for the community engagement, said Diego Garcia, a community advocate and local business owner.
“They are well-known for promoting community events…they get local merchants involved in community events,” Garcia said. “They are really good people and care about the community.”
Cruz Arroyo, owner of Tamales Tamazula, a tamales stand operating from the Veterans Memorial Hall parking lot, agreed the brothers are “very nice guys” “trying to make Richmond a better town.”
Don’t take our word for it. Pay them a visit. El Sol Furniture opens daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., except for Sundays when it closes at 6 p.m.
