St. David of Wales Catholic School is kicking off the holiday season at “Breakfast with Santa,” Sunday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school’s Rose Mello Hall in Richmond.

A tradition for approximately two decades, the community celebration combines a delicious breakfast with Santa Claus, Holiday Marketplace, seasonal cheer and family fun, all while supporting the local school.

The highlight of the day is Santa Claus himself, who will arrive from the North Pole aboard a local fire truck. Families can capture a meet & greet between Santa and their kiddos with a professional photo for $8 per picture, printed on-site for instant keepsakes. While the event is geared toward families with children, it’s open to the entire community.

Guests can enjoy a hearty breakfast featuring pancakes, hash browns, bacon or sausage, juice and coffee for $15 per person. Mimosas will also be available for adults. The breakfast is one of the school’s major fundraisers, and attendees can pre-purchase meal and photo tickets online via a QR code or pay at the door.

A half dozen pork, chicken or cheese tamales can also be reserved in advance for $18.

Beyond breakfast, the event offers a bustling Holiday Marketplace. School Principal Brian Swanson said last year, more than 30 vendors filled the space with unique seasonal items, including Christmas ornaments, wreaths, cards, candles, soaps and other handcrafted gifts. Vendors are still welcome to sign up; contact St. David’s at 510-232-2283.

Organizers expect a similar variety this year, creating a festive atmosphere where visitors can browse, mingle and check off their gift lists.

Adding to the cozy vibe, will be a holiday movie—likely the family favorite Elf—playing in the background, giving guests a chance to relax between shopping and photos. Crafts for the kids and music will also be part of the seasonal mix.

Swanson emphasized the event’s welcoming spirit. “It’s a nice, safe place for parents to bring the kids. A lot of good people just enjoying each other’s company.” With hundreds of breakfasts served in past years, the school anticipates another strong turnout.
