A three-story, seven-unit live-work building is being proposed for a long-vacant space at 300 Ohio Ave. in Richmond.

Studio CRIT on behalf of owner Keith Chung is seeking approval for an 11,230-square-foot building on the 5,000-square-foot lot at the northwest corner of S. 3rd Street and Ohio Avenue. Plans call for six affordable live-work units and one on-site manager’s unit.

According to the staff report, the first floor would house the “work” spaces, with a garage and half-bath for each unit (the manager’s unit would have uncovered parking). Second floors would feature kitchens, dining and living rooms; third floors would include two bedrooms and a full bath in each unit. Site improvements feature about 1,175 square feet of open space, 415 square feet planted with drought-tolerant natives and roughly 760 square feet of permeable hardscape. Bicycle parking and on-site refuse areas are also part of the project.

The project was scheduled to go before the Design Review Board for a study session on Wednesday, Nov. 12. No vote will be taken; the DRB will provide feedback on the project’s design.
