The 39th Annual GRIP Harmony Walk (In the Park) is free and expanded this year.

It runs on Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Nicholl Park in Richmond.

A live performance by the 10‑piece jazz‑funk band Suuittcaze will set the tone. Food trucks like Mi Casa Grill, El Sol, and Curbside Kitchen will be there.

GRIP will also sell popcorn and snow cones. A big video screen will show a virtual tour and a celebration video.

Community groups will host booths. Raffle tickets are $1 and T‑shirts cost $10. Prizes include Disneyland tickets, a bike gift certificate from Pedlar’s, an OrangeTheory fitness pack, and a year’s membership at the Oakland Museum of California.

“This year’s Harmony Walk is all about removing barriers and making sure everyone can be part of the celebration,” said Ralph Payton, GRIP’s executive director.

Jilly de la Torre, Harmony Walk Chair and GRIP board member, believes more community members will participate this year because the event is free, driving more awareness.

Major sponsors of the Harmony Walk include Mechanics Bank, Chevron, Kaiser Permanente, Republic Services, Mark A. Porter & Ameriprise Financial, East Bay MUD, and Chase. More sponsorship opportunities are available.
