Got plans for Friday night June 13? The Point Richmond Music season gets underway Friday with two free concerts from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Chris James & the Showdowns and Maurice Tani. Find the concerts at Washington Avenue and Park Place in downtown Point Richmond.

The volunteer-powered nonprofit produces the series in support of its mission “to build community through the unifying language of music.”

First up Friday night is Chris James & the Showdowns’ soulful vocals, heartfelt lyrics and Southern Rock/Americana from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Then from 6:45-7:45 p.m., veteran Americana musician Maurice Tani will step in with his sharp songwriting, expressive guitar, and heartfelt vocals, while joined by his band and guests.

The suppertime series not only offers up talented musicians, but also a vast array of cuisines, with local restaurants and food trucks on hand during the concerts. Also available will be Point Richmond Music’s bar, the proceeds of which support the music series.

Seating will be available at the concerts, however, attendees are encouraged to bring their own festival/lawn chairs.

Sponsors for this year’s music series include Republic Services, Mechanics Bank, Point Richmond Neighborhood Council, MSH Group, M.A. Hays, Atchison Village Credit Union, East Brother Beer and Wicked Code.
