A female victim was killed while crossing a Richmond intersection in a hit and run collision with a vehicle, and the suspected driver was subsequently arrested, police said.
The incident occurred at 9:03 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at the intersection of Garvin and San Pablo avenues, police said.
The female victim, whose identity has not yet been released as next of kin had yet to be notified, was transported to Highland Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Officers was able to identify the suspected vehicle and the suspect with help from Flock Safety cameras, police said. The suspect, whose identity was not immediately available, was charged with felony hit and run.
“We want to remind the public of the importance of remaining at the scene following a traffic collision,” Richmond Police Capt. Matt Stonebraker said. “Fleeing can delay emergency response and result in criminal charges. Thanks to the diligent investigative work of Richmond officers and Flock cameras, the suspect in this hit and run was quickly identified and the vehicle located. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this difficult time.”
