The City of Richmond, Richmond Public Library, Friends of the Library and a group of community partners are coming together to host the free admission “Literacy Festival” Saturday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium. Doors swing open at 10:30 a.m.
The event is guided by the mission of “Building a brighter future one page at a time” and will feature book giveaways, an appearance by a Bay Area children’s author, lunch, entertainment and library updates.
From 11 a.m. to noon, local author JaNay Brown Wood will speak, and free lunch will be offered from noon to 12:30 p.m. From 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. LaVera Wilson will host an Adult Book-Making workshop.
Joining the host partners will be participating sponsors the Multicultural Bookstore & Gifts, LEAP and the Booking Biz.
