Dutra, a provider of dredging, marine construction, and aggregate services, recently expanded its operations at the Port of Richmond with the lease of Basin 1 at the historic Point Potrero Marine Terminal (PPMT), the Port of Richmond announced Friday.
A tenant at the port since 2017, Dutra also occupies Basin 2 as well as adjacent storage, a machine shop and office area within the Port, according to Port officials.
The Basin 1 expansion is expected to create new jobs, strengthen the Port’s economic impact and “solidify its role as a vital hub for maritime services,” Port officials say.

“We are excited to deepen our partnership with Dutra and look forward to the positive contributions their presence will bring to the port and the community,” said Port of Richmond Director Charles Gerard.
The PPMT was originally developed during World War II and Port officials say it “remains a cornerstone of the port’s infrastructure, offering a blend of historical significance and modern operational capabilities.”
“The lease agreement with Dutra highlights the port’s ability to attract and support industry leaders while preserving and revitalizing its facilities,” the Port stated.
