Richmond has a new fire chief and he’s a familiar face around town. Richmond Firefighters Local 188, the union representing firefighters in the Richmond Fire Department, announced on Facebook that the next fire chief for the City of Richmond is department veteran Chief Aaron Osorio.
Chief Osorio comes to the role with 21 years of experience with the Richmond Fire Department, and 27 years of experience in overall fire service.
The chief earned his role the old fashioned way—through years of hard work and grit—rising through the ranks in positions including firefighter, engineer, captain, battalion chief, training director and, most recently, deputy fire chief.
Richmond Firefighters Local 188 said that Chief Osorio has a vast understanding and personal experience with the unique challenges that face the fire department, and more importantly, the Richmond community.
“We are eager to see what the future holds [for] the Richmond Fire Department as Chief Osorio leads us into the future and beyond. Congratulations!”
