Richmond police Chief Bisa French did it, and so can you. That’s the overriding message behind the “2nd Annual Bisa French Contra Costa College Administration of Justice Scholarship Fundraiser” set for Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 5-7 p.m. at the Multicultural Bookstore.

Hosted by the Contra Costa College Youth Service Bureau (CCYSB) Board of Directors, the event looks to raise funds for a scholarship that supports young people who aspire to break barriers in their careers within the field of law enforcement, according to organizers.

Chief French, who is the first female chief in the 111-year history of the Richmond Police Department, is the namesake of the scholarship, according to the Richmond Police Department. Organizers are requesting a $50 donation to the scholarship, which will go a long way toward its aim.

The Multicultural Bookstore is located at 260 in Broadway in Richmond. Questions? Contact CCYSB Resource Development Administrator Ruth Vasquez-Jones at (510) 215-4670.
