Around 8 a.m. today, search warrants served in the 1700 block of Road 20 in San Pablo and the 1100 block of Brookside Drive in Richmond uncovered a cache of over 700 stolen catalytic converters, more than 1,100 pounds of stolen copper cable wires and over $113,000 in cash.
Three suspects who are in custody were believed to be involved in an ongoing criminal enterprise to buy and sell stolen property, “with more than $6.4 million in transactions in 2024 alone,” the San Pablo Police Department said in a statement.
The search warrants stemmed from a tip to police about stolen copper wire sales occurring in and around the city. A subsequent investigation identified three men believed to be involved. The three suspects were taken into custody and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on felony charges of grand theft of copper materials and receiving stolen property.
This incident remains an active investigation, and anyone with additional information is asked to contact the San Pablo Police Department Investigations Division at (510) 215-3150.
