The Bay Area Rescue Mission’s annual “Back-to-School Block Party” is set for Saturday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Macdonald Ave. between First and Third Streets in Richmond.
The organization will continue its longstanding tradition of giving away back-to-school backpacks to children in need. The event will include a collection of free individual and family activities, including live entertainment, a Kids Fun Zone, food/groceries, clothing/housewares giveaways and a Blessing Boutique. Chevron Richmond is an annual sponsor of the giveaway.
Organizers said the Block Party will give community members the opportunity to one-stop-shop for free resources to “get ready for the school year, prepare for the cold winter months ahead, get complimentary haircuts and much more.”
From its home in Richmond, Bay Area Rescue Mission provides food, shelter, clothing and programs to help transform the lives of people who need it most. Learn more about the event and organization here.
