No injuries were reported in connection with a fire at a two-story building on Marina Bay Parkway Wednesday evening.
Richmond firefighters responded within two minutes of their dispatch to a fire in the 500 block of Marina Bay Parkway at about 5:30 p.m., according to Richmond Firefighters Local 188, the union that represents city firefighters.
Flames and smoke were seen coming from the structure when fire crews arrived. Heavy fire was coming from the attic space and second floor of the building.
While crews got the fire under control within 20 minutes, they needed to remain on site for hours afterward to monitor for hot spots.
The building’s reinforced security doors, chained gates and labyrinth interior made the firefight more complicated than usual, but firefighters considered the battle a success.
The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
