A Richmond Police Department traffic enforcement operation on 23rd Street on Wednesday, April 17, yielded 12 speeding citations in less than two hours.

The operations occurred one week after the RPD issued another 24 citations, including 19 for speed, in a separate enforcement effort on 23rd Street. That operation occurred on April 10 and also included two citations for unsafe lane changes, one red light violation, a citation for not yielding to pedestrians in a crosswalk, and separate citation for not yielding to an ambulance, according to the RPD.

The RPD is urging drivers to obey the speed limit in the name of public safety. Police plan additional enforcement efforts along the heavily-trafficked road, especially during rush hour.

“Please help everyone stay safe and slow down,” police officials said.
