It’s true love.
In August last year, a reader sent us a photo of this tree that is shaped like a heart on McBryde Avenue and McLaughlin Street. We published the photo, and of course many in the community were aware of the tree and love it. But we wondered: Is this tree naturally heart-shaped, or is this the work of city gardeners?
Reporter Mike Kinney recently contacted officials with the City of Richmond, who confirmed that the Chinese Elm is naturally heart shaped and not the handiwork of tree trimmers.
