Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.
2/5 – ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE W KNIFE
Officers responded to the 200 block of 22nd St for a report of a possible stabbing. Upon arrival, officers could see the victim standing by the door and the suspect standing behind the victim holding a knife. The door was breached and the suspect was ordered to drop the knife. Officers removed the victim and quickly detained the suspect who had discarded the knife. #1229
2/6 – NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM
Officers responded to the area of Groom and Erla Way for a report of a disturbance. Officers heard multiple gunshots from the area as they were en route. Officers were informed the suspect ran inside a residence after shooting in the air. Officers were able to safely take the suspect into custody and locate two firearms. #1262
2/6 – HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
Officers responded to the 2300 block of Lancaster Dr for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers arrived on the scene and located a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene. RPD Homicide Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. This investigation is ongoing. #1266
2/8 – ROBBERY
Officers responded to the 1100 block of Macdonald Ave for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned a struggle ensued between the suspect and security after the suspect attempting to walk out without paying. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival. An area check was conducted with negative results. #1326
2/8 – NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM
Officers responded to the 5000 block of Hartnett Ave for a report of shots fired. Officers found numerous casings at the scene. No victims were located and one unoccupied vehicle appeared to have been struck by gunfire. #1327
2/9 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
Officers responded to the 1000 block of 23rd St for a report of a subject suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival officers located the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound in stable condition. During the course of their investigation, officers were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody without incident. #1363
2/10 – NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM
Officers were patrolling the 100 block of S. 4th St when they observed gunfire coming from a vehicle. An enforcement stop was conducted and all four occupants were taken into custody without incident. Officers located 2 firearms and multiple spent casings inside the vehicle. #1376
2/10 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
Officers responded to the 100 block of Ohio Ave for a report of a shooting. Officers located 2 victims suffering from at least one gunshot wound and an unoccupied vehicle that appeared to have been struck by gunfire. The victims were provided medical attention on scene before being transported to nearby hospitals in stable condition. This investigation is ongoing. #1377
