A GoFundMe was launched on behalf of one of two victims of a fatal crash in Richmond on Friday.

Rosa Herrera, 18, of Richmond, and Elijah Thomasson, 21, of Berkeley, were identified by the Contra Cost County Coroner’s Office today as the victims of the solo-vehicle crash. The crash occurred in the area of Carlson Boulevard and Florida Avenue on Friday morning.

Police said speed may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. News media footage from the scene showed the vehicle split into multiple pieces as a result of the crash.

In the wake of the devastation, Herrera’s cousin launched a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral expenses.

“Rosie’s life was just beginning as she just celebrated her 18th birthday not too long ago, unfortunately God’s plan was different for her,” her cousin stated on GoFundMe. “Since this tragic accident happened so suddenly, we ask that family and friends please donate to what they can so we can create a beautiful send off for our beautiful girl.”
