The West Coast Chess Alliance (WCCA) and Bear Claw Bakery and Cafe are rolling out “Sweet Checkmate,” a chance to savor a sweet treat while enjoying a game of chess at the Pinole business.

The WCCA teamed up with Bear Claw Bakery and Cafe to offer a free chess pop-up event at the bakery starting Dec. 7 and continuing every Thursday through December from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The sweet opportunity will give participants the chance to not only enjoy a tasty pastry, but also to meet fellow chess players over a game.

“The Bear Claw Bakery and Café is our first partnership this year to support local businesses that promote “chess play zones” said the WCCA’s T.C. Ball.

Chess players of all levels are invited to participate in the evening event.

Bear Claw Bakery and Café is located at 2340 San Pablo Ave. in Pinole. Questions? Contact T.C. Ball, the “Black Knight,” at [email protected].
