Hoist a ladder, drag a firehose and show the Richmond Fire Youth Academy you’ve got what it takes at the “Pre-Academy Workout” Sat., Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Richmond Fire Training Center.
The workout aims to help community members not only get and stay in shape, but also will help prepare participants for a career in the fire service, according to the Richmond Fire Youth Academy. It’s also an opportunity to become familiar with industry-related workouts and equipment, while asking questions and gathering information.
“Workouts will be a modified CPAT Firefighter Physical Exam,” officials said.
Stations at that Saturday’s workout workshop will include: Firehose Drag and Pull; Tool and Equipment Carry; Victim Body Drag; Ladder Exercise; Sledge Hammer Swings; and Tool Hoist and Lower.

The Richmond Fire Training Center is located at 3510 Cutting Blvd. in Richmond.
