Two people were transported to area hospitals following a multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of Macdonald Avenue and 37th Street Tuesday afternoon, according to Richmond Firefighters Local 188, the union representing Richmond firefighters.

Fire crews responded to the crash scene just before 4:30 p.m. Two crews worked to extricate one patient, who was trapped in a vehicle with moderate injuries, Local 188 reported. The other driver suffered minor injuries. Details about the cause of the accident weren’t immediately known.

“As always please buckle up and slow down as you navigate our roadways,” Local 188 stated.

Local 188 said its firefighters have been responding to a high number of vehicular accidents in Richmond recently, including “numerous significant traffic accidents” on Saturday, including one in the area of Barrett Avenue and 21st Street that required the driver to be extricated from the vehicle. On Sunday, three vehicles were involved in a crash on Richmond Parkway near W. Gertrude Avenue, resulting in minor injuries for one occupant, according to Local 188.
