No injuries were reported in connection with a fire at an abandoned residence early Wednesday, according to Richmond Firefighters Local 188, the union representing city firefighters.

At about 5:30 a.m., Richmond firefighters responded to the 1600 block of 4th Street to assist Contra Costa County Fire with the structure fire.

A Richmond fire crew was first to arrive at the scene to find an abandoned and boarded up residence already well involved with fire, officials said.

“Crews went to work to gain access into the building and were able to get the flames under control without issue,” officials said.

Richmond Firefighters Local 188 posted video of the firefight on social media.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediatley known.
