Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Officers responded to approx. 790 calls for service during this period. 11/28/22- VEHICLE COLLISION
Officers responded to the area of Western and Dornan Ave for reports of a vehicle collision. Officers responded and located a vehicle that had collided with the curb and then rolled over, coming to rest in Keller Beach Park. Officers determined the vehicle was unoccupied and cold to the touch. Officers attempted to locate the registered owner who indicated the vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle was towed from the park. #9582
11/29/22 – BATTERY WITH SERIOUS INJURIES
Officers responded to the 2900 block of Hilltop Mall Rd for reports of an assaulted female. Officers located the victim, who admitted she had consumed controlled substances with an acquaintance. The acquaintance became paranoid believing the victim had stolen items from him, prompting the suspect to attack the victim. The victim sustained facial lacerations and a possible broken jaw. The victim was unsure where exactly the suspect lived. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. #9601
11/29/22 –CARJACKING
Officers responded to the 1500 block of Carlson Ave for reports of a carjacking. Officers contact the victim who claimed he was waiting in the parking lot of the hotel when two suspects approached him while pointing a firearm at him. The suspects demanded the keys to the victim’s vehicle and he complied. The suspects then fled in his vehicle. Officers determined the vehicle had entered eastbound I-80 and were unable to locate the vehicle during an area check. #9609
11/29/22 –ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON
Officers responded to the 800 block of 6th St. for reports of a stabbing. Officers located the victim, who said his brother was under the influence of a controlled substance. While the victim was watching TV, the brother for unknown reasons suddenly attacked the victim, striking him numerous times, striking him in the upper body. The victim sustained cuts and abrasions. The suspect was located at the scene and taken into custody without incident. #9619
11/30/22 – DUI, HIT AND RUN
Officers responded to the 12700 block of San Pablo Ave for reports of a vehicle collision with the driver attempting to flee the scene. Officers responded and determined a vehicle and struck a parked vehicle. When the driver attempted to walk off, citizens detained the driver until officers arrived on the scene. The driver exhibited signs of being intoxicated and performed the roadside sobriety tests poorly. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and booked at the RPD jail. #9629
11/30/22 – POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE
Officers on routine patrol observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Carlson and S. 55th St. A record check of the vehicle’s license plate showed that it had been reported stolen. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver was taken into custody without incident. The driver was booked into the RPD for possession of a stolen vehicle. #9631
11/30/22-VIOLATION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESTRAINING ORDER
Officers responded to the 3000 block of Florida Ave for reports of a domestic disturbance. Officers responded and determined that although a domestic battery had not occurred, the suspect was at the location in violation of a domestic violence restraining order. The suspect refused to cooperate with officers and was taken into custody after a brief struggle. The suspect was booked into the RPD jail for resisting arrest and for violating the restraining order. #9652
12/1/22-ARSON
Officers responded to a vehicle on fire in the 4800 block of Central Ave. RFD responded and extinguished the fire. Empty accelerant containers were located in the vehicle. RFP arson investigators to assume the investigation. #9674
