The Richmond Police Department regularly releases an overview of recent significant incidents its patrol officers responded to in the city. The segment is an overview and does not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.
RPD PATROL ACTIVITY REPORT – WEEKDAY SHIFT OVERVIEW: Aug. 26-28, 2022
8/26/22 – TRAFFIC COLLISION
Officers responded to the area of Interstate 80 and Hilltop Drive for a traffic collision with injuries. Officers determined that a passing motorist had collided with a disabled vehicle, causing major damage to both cars. One involved party was transported to the hospital for evaluation. #6924
8/26/22 – DOMESTIC BATTERY
Officers responded to the 400 block of Marina Way South regarding a domestic disturbance, and contacted two subjects who were both suffering from visible non-life threatening injuries. Based on statements from involved parties, along with camera footage that had been captured during the incident, officers determined the suspect to be the primary aggressor, and arrested her without incident. #6929
8/26/22 – SEXUAL ASSAULT, KIDNAPPING
Officers responded to Kaiser Hospital to contact the victim of a reported sexual assault that had occurred in the area of 23rd Street and Wendell Avenue. The victim reported that she kidnapped and sexually assaulted by an unknown suspect. This investigation is ongoing. #6936
OPERATIONAL STAFFING SHORTAGE – FORCED OVERTIME (Teams 4, 5): Three (3) officers and one (1) sergeant reported for forced and/or mandatory overtime shifts, to meet minimum staffing requirements.
8/27/22 – DUI
An RPD officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle that was driving erratically in the area of Broadway Street and Carlson Boulevard. The driver exhibited signs of intoxication and a DUI investigation was conducted. The driver was arrested without incident. #6938
8/27/22 – WARRANT ARREST
An RPD officer conducted an enforcement stop in the area of 4th Street and Chesley Avenue. The driver was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest, and was taken into custody without incident. #6939
8/27/22 – TRAFFIC COLLISION
Officers responded to the area of 29th Street and Moran Avenue on reports of a traffic collision with injuries. One driver suffered minor injuries and was treated by medical personnel on scene. Both vehicles suffered major damage and were towed from the scene. #6947
8/27/22 – ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM
An RPD officer conducted an enforcement stop in the area of South 20th Street and Cutting Boulevard. During the investigation, a passenger within the car was found to have a loaded pistol concealed within his waistband. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. #6953
8/27/22 – ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF RIFLE
An RPD officer conducted an enforcement stop in the area of 8th Street and Barrett Avenue. While contacting the driver, an AR-15 rifle was seen, in plain view, on the floorboard of the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody without incident. #6783

8/28/22 – ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM
An RPD officer conducted an enforcement stop in the area of South 7th Street and Florida Avenue. Upon contact, officers smelled burnt marijuana and could see the substance inside the car, in plain view. During the investigation, a loaded firearm was located under the seat of vehicle; the driver and passenger were arrested without incident. #6963
8/28/22 – WARRANT ARREST
Officers responded to the 200 block of MacDonald Avenue regarding reports of a subject who had brandished a knife. Upon arrival, officers determined that the brandishing had not occurred however, the involved subject had two outstanding warrants for her arrest. She was taken into custody without incident. #6971
8/28/22 – ROBBERY
Officers responded to the 1000 block of Chesley Avenue regarding a robbery that had occurred. The victim (a taco stand vendor) reported that two suspects had displayed firearms and demanded the victim’s money. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival. #6973
