In the return of one of the first City of Pinole summer events in two years, Soul Mechanix is set to perform at Fernandez Park Thursday, July 7 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The group is known for mixing up groove-based R&B and soul with some funk to boot “while drawing from a diverse universe of musical influences,” per the City.
Concertgoers can expect to hear a range of covers and originals during the “Summer Sounds Concert,” including: Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Bill Withers, Bobby Brown, Blackstreet, Maxwell, Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige, Maze, Cameo, Funkadelic, Parliament, James Brown, Roberta Flack, Rick James, The Time, O’Jays, Slave, Ohio Players, Commodores, Jimi Hendrix, Prince and more, according to the City.
