Richmond police say they are grateful that no one was killed after a driver suspected of DUI crashed into a police motorcycle Saturday night, totaling the motorcycle.
The incident occurred as the RPD motorcycle officer was conducting an investigation on the side of the roadway, police said.
The driver, whose identify wasn’t released, “crashed into the officer’s motorcycle at a significant rate of speed,” police said.
“Not only did the intoxicated driver have a felony DUI warrant for his arrest, he was also on probation for DUI, and provided a breath alcohol sample on scene of MORE THAN 3 TIMES the legal limit!!,” police reported on social media.
Police added they are “thankful that only minor injuries were reported as a result of the driver’s reckless and dangerous decision.”
