No injuries were reported in the wake of a fire that broke out Monday morning in the garage of a residential building in San Pablo, according to the Contra Costa Fire Protection District (Con Fire).

Con Fire reported it was responding to the fire in the 2500 block of El Portal Drive, just south of the Contra Costa College campus, about 6:30 a.m. Within 30 minutes, Con Fire reported the fire had been knocked down, and that all occupants of the building had been accounted for.

A preliminary investigation determined the fire began in the garage. The fire’s cause has not been determined but the fire is not considered suspicious in nature, according to Con Fire. The extent of damage wasn’t immediately known.

The fire prompted closure of the westbound lanes on El Portal Drive from Route 20. Crews were expected to remain at the scene for a couple of hours.
