A person who was trapped under a vehicle following an accident in the area of I-580 and Regatta Boulevard in Richmond last week was rescued by local firefighers and “amazingly” sustained only minor injuries.

Just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, firefighters responded to the scene and found a single vehicle on its side “with one of the occupants partially ejected and trapped between the car and ground,” according to Richmond Firefighters Local 188, the union representing city firefghters.

Richmond firefighters helped stablize and lift the car off the victim while other crews worked to free them. A fire crew from the El Cerrito Fire Department assisted in the effort.

“Due to the amazing teamwork, the victim was successfully freed within about 45 minutes, amazingly sustaining only minor injuries,” Local 188 said.
