The Richmond Police Department will participate in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day by holding an event this Saturday where residents can turn in unwanted medications for safe and responsible disposal.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the RPD substation at 1000 Macdonald Ave.
“Turn in your unused, expired, or unwanted medication for safe and responsible disposal – help us keep our community safe by preventing the potential for substance abuse,” the RPD stated.
The event will distribute free Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal medication, to anyone with prescription opioids in their home. Vape pens and e-cigarettes will be excepted only after the batteries are removed.
