Lowriders from the Outsiders Car Club and other local clubs will roll into the San Pablo Library Sat., Nov. 6 for the first annual “Lowriders at the Library” car show. Set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the library’s parking lot, the free-admission event will be hosted by the library and Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS).
Aside from cool cars on display, CCHS will be on hand offering vaccinations and emergency first aid kits, while library personnel will offer up free books, library card sign-ups and info about Project Second Chance (an adult literacy program) and ESL groups.
Also participating in the event will be the San Pablo Police Department, La Familia and Primetime Nutrition Management to provide info about their programs.
“We are hoping to make this event an annual one to celebrate the opening of our library and [Latinx and] Hispanic Heritage Month…Our goal is to promote the use of the library and its resources to the community,” said Gia Paolini, senior community library manager, in a correspondence to the City of San Pablo.
The day’s activities will be bolstered by support from the San Pablo City Council, which recently voted to contribute $1,000 to the event.
