Contra Costa Behavioral Health Services—which is a division of Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS)—will host a free “Suicide Prevention Community Forum” Thursday, Sept. 9 from 4-7 p.m. on Zoom.
Attendees will learn how to support themselves, a friend, or a loved one and what to do before, during and after a crisis, according to organizers. The event, which is open to everyone and has a target audience of youth, young adults and their advocates, is one facet of the County’s Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) planning process.
“The event will also include self-care sessions, sharing of personal stories and opportunities to discuss how to best support youth in our community,” said organizers, who will also be sharing info and resources on the MHSA and crisis supports in Contra Costa County.
Currently, more than $50 million is allocated in the County’s MHSA budget to support of more than 80 mental health and wellness programs, said forum organizers. Click here for more info about most recent MHSA Three Year Program and Expenditure Plan.
