Two suspects fled a traffic stop in Richmond Monday and led police on a pursuit to San Rafael, but were eventually arrested after abandoning their vehicle and attempting to flee on foot, police said.
At 9:16 p.m., an officer attempted a traffic stop at 19th Street and Barrett Avenue. The vehicle being pulled over was wanted in connection with a San Mateo Police Department investigation into catalytic converter theft, police said.
The suspect vehicle fled and officers coordinated with the California Highway Patrol, which used air and ground units in the pursuit to San Rafael. The two suspects abandoned the car and fled into a San Rafael park, but were subsequently arrested with help from an RPD canine unit, police said.
One of the suspects was booked on six arrest warrants and the second suspect had three outstanding arrest warrants, police said. Their identities were not immediately released.
