Two of three victims killed in a mass shooting in Richmond have bee identified by the Contra Costa Coroner’s Office as Andres Morales Garcia, 18, from Richmond, and Hector Carrillo Lopez, 39, whose city of residence wasn’t known.
The mass shooting occurred just before 11 p.m. Sunday, June 20, at a home in the 2100 block of Dunn Avenue, where dozens of people had gathered for a traditional Guatemalan celebration, police said. Three people were killed and five other wounded. No arrests nor motive have been announced.
Two unknown men “arrived as party-goers were celebrating and began shooting into the crowd,” Richmond police Chief Bisa French recounted at this past Tuesday’s City Council meeting. “This case has obviously had a big impact on our community and we are still asking for witnesses or anyone who may have information about the shooting to come forward.”
