Richmond and North Richmond residents interested in saving money on their electric bills can join a free online “No Cost Solar Workshop” hosted by the City of Richmond and GRID Alternatives Thurs., June 10 at 7 p.m.

GRID Alternatives, which is funded by the City of Richmond and the State of California, “provides no-cost solar systems and electric vehicle charging infrastructure assistance to qualifying Richmond and North Richmond homeowners,” according to workshop organizers. They added that, by going solar, people can save up to 60-90 percent on their electric bill, with even more savings possible when coupled with an electric vehicle.

To qualify for the GRID Alternatives’ solar program, you must live and own your home in qualifying areas of Richmond or North Richmond; and your 2020 household income must be at or below the following amounts: A maximum household income (MHI) of $34,480 for a household size of 1-2 people; $54,300 for a household of 3 people; $65,500 for a household of 4 people; $76,700 for a household of 5 people; $87,900 for a household of 6 people; $99,100 for a household of 7 people; and for additional people, add $11,200 per person.
