Richmond’s East Brother Beer Co. is welcoming the local beer-drinking community to “get your G.O.A.T. before it’s gone,” namely its 2021 Maibock, which they tout as deserving its place among the Greatest of All Time and is on sale for a limited time while supplies last.

According to East Brother Beer’s Rob Lightner, this year the craft brewery employed “classic German techniques for [its] 2021 Maibock” using Admiral Maltings’ Munich malt, Admiral Midway, which gives the lager “a biscuity malt flavor.” This malt coupled with the Admiral Pils malt East Brother added to its Maibock last year, “makes the 2021 Maibock live up to the GOAT title.”

This year’s incarnation of East Brother Beer’s Maibock is described by Lightner as having “a golden, light pale hue and a deliciously creamy white head; its aroma is slightly floral with just a hint of noble hop spiciness. This smooth, clean German-style lager has a rich malty backbone balanced with spicy and floral noble hops.” The beer has a 7.0 percent ABV, and goes down easy thanks to its “delicate hop flavors and just enough bitterness on the finish.”

So how do you get your hands on the Maibock G.O.A.T? Lightner says that this East Brother Beer “fan favorite” will only be available for a few weeks. Community members can purchase a pint—along with a commemorative glass, at East Brother Beer’s recently reopened taproom  or can peruse their beer finder to locate it elsewhere. The Maibock can also be purchased via curbside pickup/local delivery or shipping throughout California. For more info, visit East Brother Beer’s website.
