A Richmond native is finally realizing her dream to open a food business and she’s hitting the ground running with some tantalizing menu offerings for this weekend that are fit for a king.

Semetra Lee opened Royal Family Kitchen Friday, Aug. 28 and describes the cuisine that her mobile food and catering business delivers to doorsteps as “urban food for the soul.”

“It’s always been my passion to cook food. Now that my children are older, I’m able to fulfill my passion,” said Lee, who delivers her orders at the start of every weekend.

Community members can sample Royal Family Kitchen’s offerings this Friday and Saturday by preordering by Thursday, Sept. 3.

Royal Family Kitchen’s Friday, Sept. 4 menu will feature: pot roast, loaded mashed potatoes, green beans and a corn bread muffin. A full order costs $22 and a half order is $18. Soda, water and some sweets like peach dump cake and fried Oreos (5) are also available for $3.

For Saturday, Sept. 5, the menu will include: stuffed bell peppers, garden salad (ranch or Italian dressing), fried chicken and a dinner roll. A full order is $18 and a half order is $14.

Lee, who now lives in Antioch, said Royal Family Kitchen will deliver food to a different Bay Area city each weekend—including Antioch, Pittsburgh, Oakland and Stockton. However, she will always deliver in her hometown of Richmond every weekend, no matter what other city she’s delivering in. Per Lee, food left over after her deliveries will be brought and donated to homeless encampments in whatever city she is in.

Lee said she’s currently working on getting a truck and then she will also do pop-ups. “We’re looking to offer vegetarian meals as well so we can service everyone,” she said.

Aside from this weekend’s menu, some of the other offerings we’ll see on Lee’s menu may include teriyaki chicken, garlic noodles & shrimp, seafood boil and her signature BBQ ribs—to name a few. Lee posts her new menus every Sunday on social media.
