A 36-year-old man has been charged with a fatal shooting in Richmond on Tuesday that killed 32-year-old city resident Jose Antonio Salazar and injured another victim, police said.
Leopold Hernandez, 36, of Richmond, has been charged with murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and weapons violations in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred in the 900 block of 9th Street. When police responded to the scene at about 8:05 a.m., they found two gunshot victims, including Salazar, who died at the scene.
That same day at about 7:35 p.m., detectives investigating the homicide arrested Hernandez in the 200 block of 23rd Street without incident. He’s in custody on $3.2 million bail, police said.
Further details, including the motive for the homicide, were not immediately known.
