July 2 was a banner day for a local grocery store that supported local families in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Thursday, July 2, Leftside Printing owner Diego Garcia donated a banner to recognize Las Montañas Supermarket, which donated funds to pay for groceries and essentials to support the local families as part of The Grocery Giveaway Project.
The project took place throughout the month of May and distributed 100 grocery gift cards to local families experiencing hardships. It was a joint effort between Las Montañas and Moving Forward, a community organization that aims to enhance resources in academics, health and community services for young leaders in Richmond.
“Thanks to Las Montanas taking initiative, families had one less thing to stress about, at least for awhile,” said Arleide Santos, spokesperson for Moving Forward. “During times like now, it takes a community effort to ensure our community is taken care of.”
