A Point Richmond resident was arrested on allegations of stealing a woman’s phone and burying it in his yard after she used the phone to film him during a dispute, police said.

On Tuesday at 7:19 p.m., police responded to Crest Avenue on a report of a robbery, Richmond police Capt. Al Walle said.

A woman was seated in her car enjoying the coastal view when the suspect, a nearby resident, confronted her about being parked in a no-parking zone, Walle said. During the dispute, the woman recorded their interaction with her phone.

The suspect “forcibly removed the phone from her hand,” then “ran home and buried the phone in his yard,” Walle said. The suspect, who hasn’t been identified, was arrested without incident.
